Boston Childrens Hospital is a 400-bed children’s hospital in the Longwood Medical and Academic Area of Boston, Massachusetts. Children’s is adjacent both to its teaching affiliate, Harvard Medical School, and to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Childrens is one of the largest pediatric medical centers in the United States, Children’s offers a complete range of health care services for children from birth through 21 years of age. Children’s was founded in 1869 to pioneer specialized approaches to treating children and became affiliated with the Harvard Medical School in 1903.
The WuXi-NextCODE genomics platform was created and refined over 16+ years for application in large-scale population genetics research at deCODE Genetics based in Iceland. In 2013 the powerful information platform from deCODE was spun out to create a new company NextCODE Health, which in turn was acquired in 2015 by the Chinese company WuXi PharmaTech. This genomics platform serves as a foundational infrastructure to deliver genomic solutions for the new company, WuXi-NextCODE.
